During my time at Zacco, I have been fortunate enough to meet many of our clients, and innovation remains a priority. This is a view shared by WIPO, with the publication of their recent Global Innovation Index 2025*, which shows what many of us already feel, that innovation remains the foundation of global economic growth.

Switzerland, Sweden, and the USA continue to lead the rankings, with the Nordics as a whole demonstrating a particularly strong presence near the top of the list. South Korea reaches it’s highest ever position at number four, and China enters the top 10 for the first time. India, at number 38 deserved a special mention as an ‘innovation overperformer’, delivering more innovation than expected.

One thing that emerges from client meetings, time and time again, is how much value is placed on international IP expertise and access, and robust tech enabled workflows. Understandably, such expectations place high demands on IP law firms like ours, but rather than seeing this as a challenge, we see it as an opportunity. At Zacco, we are already evolving to meet our client where they need to be, by investing in technology, expanding our global footprint, and fostering a collaborative and client-centric approach. Our goal is simple: to help organisations to protect, enforce, monetise and manage their innovations and identity with speed, precision, strategy and actionable insight.

Zacco has offices across some of the world’s leading innovation hubs: Sweden, the UK, Denmark, Germany, Norway and India. This local presence allows us to support global companies locally, and local companies as they scale and go global. Our expertise means that we are supporting our clients with navigating increasingly complex regulatory landscapes and strengthening global IP portfolios. We are helping them to monetise their innovations and brand reputation, through licensing, valuation and strategy, and our tools such as IPview, AI assisted workflows and automation are making IP management more intuitive, accessible and secure.

Clients want more than traditional transactional legal services. They expect transparency and efficiency, alongside strategic advice that aligns with and supports business outcomes, backed up by technology able to reduce administrative heavy lifting and manual effort. We are meeting each of these expectations by embedding cross practice and cross border teams of attorneys and paralegals, who understand our client’s technology, business model and growth strategy, backed up by flexible pricing models, including retainers for innovation driven clients. Our Indian operations are also supporting scalable delivery for some of our clients, efficiently handling high volume formalities, prosecution and illustrations.

As innovation accelerates and IP becomes more complex, maintaining your competitive advantage requires informed decisions and the right people behind you. With innovation moving so quickly, let us make sure that your IP strategy can keep up.
